New Balance

New Balance (abbreviated as NB) is an American athletic footwear and apparel business established in Boston, Massachusetts. The company is noted for its comfy, high-quality items, and was founded in 1906 by English-born William J. Riley. The North American institution has made its shoes in both the United States (Massachusetts, Maine) and the United Kingdom (England) (England). The brand has enjoyed widespread popularity among runners since its beginnings as a company specializing in arch supports, which began with the New Balance Trackster, the first-ever running shoe with rippled soles (1961), and continued well into the subsequent decades thanks to the New Balance 320 (1976); New Balance 990 (1982); and New Balance 1500 (1993), among others. (President Bill Clinton notably donned the pair throughout his presidency, resulting in a surge in sales.) New Balance sneakers are known for their performance, but they've also garnered favor in the lifestyle market. Collaborations with Concepts, Ronnie Fieg, and Aimé Leon Dore have helped it build a foothold in the highly coveted shoe market. Thanks to the "dad" shoe fad, the Boston-based company's popularity has skyrocketed in recent years. In 2020, the New Balance 992 from 2006, which was approved by Steve Jobs, had its first retro run since 2010. New ideas like the New Balance 327, which debuted in April 2020 in conjunction with Casablanca, have immediately gained acclaim for combining tradition and modern design in equal measure. In other news, NBA Champion Kawhi Leonard, who signed with the company in 2018, has boosted the brand's profile, particularly in the performance-basketball area. The KAWHI, Leonard's own unique sneaker, debuted in Fall 2020. The Jamal Murray-endorsed TWO WXY has replaced Leonard's sneaker, but NB's vintage basketball shoes have received far more attention. The New Balance 550 has been incredibly popular because to Aimé Leon Dore's Teddy Santis, who was appointed Creative Director of Made in USA in April 2021.
